Both the Map and Speedometer will show the Power Slide Meter along the bottom. The Speedometer will show your current speed, as well as provide a meter for how much air time you're getting in the current jump (the meter will change colour to indicate the strength of the Turbo when you land). The Map will show the track and all the characters in the event, including any Warp Orbs making their way up the track. Press this button to Toggle between the Map and the Speedometer. The more the meter is filled, the stronger the Turbo, but if it fills up completely you'll miss that Turbo. Cracking that game to play a backup back in the day was mandatory on original hardware. Press the other bumper button at this time to get a Power Slide Turbo, which you can do up to three times in a single Power Slide. That game, the PAL version, has Libcrypt copy protection.
